Everyone tries to be good consumer and shop for best price for similar products. What happens in car insurance is some clients want FULL COVERAGE yet they only purchase minimum state liability and uninsured motorist limits(25/50/10 in Missouri) while others realize the importance of PROTECTION and obtain 50/100/50, 100.300/100, 250/500/250 or maybe go the Combined Single Route of $300,000 or $500,000 for Liability and un/underinsured motorist.
Agents/producers know what consumers mean by "full coverage"; however, totally full coverage simply does not exist. Clients who carry $500,000 on their auto liability limits plus $1,000,000 Personal umbrella policy certainly are better protected than client with 25/50/10. However, the umbrella carrying client only has full coverage up to the umbrella policy limit......should some incident occur with a lawsuit over that limit well good luck.
The points to be made here is fully coverage is a very misunderstood phrase and means almost nothing in the court room. When shopping for car insurance it's best to assume something bad can happen behind the wheel of a car. It may be ice, snow, wet surface(contributing factors); however, do you honestly think a jury will reduce the size of a judgement because of ice? Anyway, auto insurance is not all the same.
When you see an increase in your auto insurance bill and you have not had any accidents or tickets please realize good drivers are paying for bad drivers. Today more cars are on the road due to better economy, with more people working It is estimated that 52% of accidents dealt with phone distraction. These new cars are not built the way cars were in the 1950's or 60's. the cars of today are built for fuel economy, sure they have safety features; however, these drive up cost at the body shops. A simple outside mirror, with electronic adjustment from inside, car in blind spot indicator and defroster, can be $2000 replacement item. The cars built today can fold up like an accordian in an accident.
Another HUGE issue is a persons insurance bureau score, the better a person's credit the lower the insurance. Please select higher liability limits are always match your Un and Underinsured Motorist Limits to your liability limits. Any further questions call Flanigan Insurance @ 314-727-6000.
