Earthquake only policy for MO

Many homeowner insurance companies have stopped writing earthquake coverage in Missouri, other's have placed a year(such as 1960) as the oldest they will permit adding earthquake.  Keep in mind if you suffer earthquake damage and do NOT have earthquake coverage there will be NO coverage for damage to the home's structure, if the ceiling collapses no coverage for the possessions in your home, no additional living expense and if there is a mortgage on the home you can pretty much bet the mortgage lender will not forgive the loan.

Some insurance companies LIMIT loss to your contents to $10,000 maximum.  All Earthquake policies have a separate deductible, such as 5,10,15 or 20% of the limits shown on a policy.  In other words the deductible is not 10% of the damage amount rather 10% of the limits on the policy.  Example, a $100,000 home with 10% deductible typically has 3 separate earthquake deductibles($10,000 on home, $1,000 deductible on detached other structure, $5,000 deductible on Personal Property and perhaps $2,000 deductible on Loss of Use/Additional Living Expense.
