An applicant's credit certainly is a huge rating factor when it comes to most insurance policies. Credit seems to rule these days, whether it's for a car loan, mortgage, credit card etc. The better a persons credit score the lower insurance rates will be.
Why is this? In studies it has been shown that people with better credit simply report fewer claims.
So if you credit is less than perfect, do everything you can to regain a good credit score. Time will cure many things and that certainly applies to credit. Credit does not discriminate.
