The open enrollment period is a little different this year, it runs from November 1st 2016 until January 31st 2017. After Jan 31st, only Qualifying life events(marriage, birth, divorce, loss of job &/or insurance) from employer(does not include failing pay premium) allow a person to be eligible for Special Enrollment and proof must be submitted. In order for a ACA policy to begin effective 1-1-17 and application MUST be completed and submitted on line by December 14th. An application submitted on December 16 thru Jan 14th will become effective Feb 1st 2017. An application completed online between Jan 16 and Jan 31st will be effective March 1st.
After these dates Flanigan Insurance offers Short-Term Major Medical Policies with United Health One/Golden Rule. Short Term major medical policies are NOT ACA compliant, meaning they do not have the 10 essential mandated benefits and they d NOT cover pre-existing conditions. However, the yare excellent to fill a gap if people are between jobs or waiting for their other policy to begin.
Flanigan Insurance uses Anthem BC/BS and typically only the OFF exchange(off the government website) with zero subsidies. In order to qualify for a subsidy a ACA policy must be written ON the government website, that way an applicant can be linked to IRS to verify their income.
