Many people own some kind of motorized vehicle, such as ATV, golf cart or scooter and assume their homeowner policy will cover it, well they will be in for a shocking surprise in event of a serious injury. Likewise, older cars kept in a garage would NOT be covered by a fire or theft. I've had people tell me they are positive the homeowner policy would cover the old classic car in a garage in event of tornado, fire or theft. No I'm afraid they would NOT be covered by homeowner policy.
Typically the only motorized unit covered by a homeowner policy is a lawn mower used exclusively to maintain the premise. Maybe a very small fishing boat with no more than 10 horse-power. engine; however, suggest checking with your policy or your agent on this.
So don't be fooled, if you have an ATV, golf cart or scooter simply take out a motorcycle policy. If own a classic car simply take out a classic car policy. If own a small boat take out a boat policy.
