Ever noticed carpenter bee's buzzing around the eaves of roof or wood deck? Those carpenter bee holes can eventually lead to entire area of bore holes. Eaves and decks have been destroyed by these bugs. Home insurance companies do not provide coverage as the damage is caused over period of time rather than sudden loss. If you can deter the bugs fabulous, I have found it's best to be pro-active. If tacking the job yourself, get an early start. Wasps typically are not buzzing around unless the weather is warm. Any bore holes from Carpenter Bees should be filled. The carpenter bee lays eggs in the wood which will hatch, so take a small piece of tin foil and push in hole then follow up with wood filer and paint once dry also I have hung carper bee traps. They may come back; however, keep making them work is my attitude.
Typically, damage caused by insects, vermin, bees are not covered by homeowner policies. Some folks will argue certain bugs are neither an insect or vermin; therefore, coverage should exist.....
